Nurses
Burned out, in transition, or just ready to reconnect with what called you to this work. Start with the VIA survey, then join the Review.
You went into healthcare because it meant something to you — a calling, a personal experience, a deep desire to help people heal. But the system wasn't built to sustain the people who sustain everyone else. Connect Wellness™ helps you reconnect with what's strong in you — not fix what's broken.
Through strengths-based coaching, mindfulness-informed education, and embodied practices, I support nurses and healthcare professionals in rediscovering purpose, resilience, and the kind of wellbeing that actually lasts.
Start here: Take the free VIA Character Strengths Survey (15 minutes). Then subscribe to the Review to learn what to do with your results.

Every person has 24 character strengths. The VIA framework helps you identify which ones come most naturally to you — and how to use them intentionally.
Developed by Christopher Peterson and Martin Seligman, the VIA Classification is backed by two decades of research and has been used in over 190 countries. It doesn’t measure what’s wrong with you. It maps what’s strong in you.
My vision is that every nurse, health coach, and healthcare professional knows their strengths profile — not just as a self-help exercise, but as a professional foundation. Connect Wellness™ believes that when the system can cultivate a healthcare environment where nurses, healthcare professionals and health coaches can lead with their strengths, it could have transformational and positive impacts — personally and systemically.

If she was right, we are that generation. The only way we’ll do it is if we’re empowered to lean into our strengths.
This isn't a program about nurses. It's a program for nurses, by a nurse who lived it.
I burned out within my first year as a nurse.
It was 2009. I was brand new. And I already felt something fracturing between the calling I felt in my bones and the system I was expected to function inside.
Nursing wasn't just a career choice for me — it was a deep calling. Whether you came to nursing through a spiritual pull, a desire to serve, or simply because you knew you were meant to take care of people — something drew you here for a reason. But the reality was a system that often didn't value what we were taught. We were putting band-aids on major wounds — for our patients and for ourselves. And no one was talking about it.
So I started looking for another way.
That search led me to health coaching — and it shifted everything I thought I knew about helping people. I studied health coaching at Duke. I became a Board-Certified Nurse Health Coach through AHNCC. I earned an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology at the University of East London. And somewhere in that journey, I discovered something that tied it all together: VIA Character Strengths.
When I found the VIA framework — and became a certified Mindfulness-Based Strengths Practice (MBSP) facilitator — I finally had language for what I'd always believed: healthcare professionals are not broken. We are strong. We just need to reconnect with what's already there.
Here's what I've learned along the way: as nurses and health coaches, we wear different hats. Sometimes the situation calls for clinical guidance — advising someone on what they need to do. That's important. But even the best advice means very little if the person receiving it doesn't know how to integrate it into their actual life.
That's what coaching does. It bridges the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it. It empowers people to tap into their own potential, to advocate for the changes they need, and to build the self-efficacy to sustain those changes long after the conversation ends.
Along the way, I also needed something for myself — a practice that wasn’t just intellectual. I needed to move, to breathe, to express what words couldn’t reach. That’s how EMBSD-IHC™ was born. It started as my own burnout prevention practice — an embodied wellbeing experience that weaves together movement, meditation, and safe self-expression. It helped me release stress and tension, but it did something I didn’t expect: it cultivated joy. Playfulness. A reconnection with parts of myself I’d lost somewhere between charting and clock-watching.
And here’s the thing — if your heart is still beating, you have rhythm. You don’t have to call it dance. Call it movement. Call it whatever feels right. The point is that your body already knows how to process what your mind keeps holding onto. EMBSD-IHC™ gives you a safe, evidence-informed space to let that happen — and to feel empowered, connected, and alive in the process.
Connect Wellness™ isn’t for patients — it’s for the people who take care of them. Nurses, health coaches, providers, and healthcare professionals who deserve the same investment in their own wellbeing that they give to everyone else.
That's why I founded Connect Wellness™. That's why I created EMBSD-IHC™. That's what this work is about.
If she was right, we are that generation. The only way we’ll do it is if we’re empowered to lean into our strengths.

Developed by Ryan M. Niemiec, Psy.D., Chief Science & Education Officer at the VIA Institute on Character.
MBSP is an 8-session evidence-based program that integrates mindfulness with the 24 VIA character strengths. Research suggests it simultaneously helps people boost wellbeing and manage their deficits — a rare combination. Participants experience gains in engagement, meaning, and achievement while also building capacity to navigate stress, conflicts, and adversity.
MBSP is not a static program. It continues to evolve, infusing the latest science of mindfulness and character strengths into every session. Chad is a certified MBSP facilitator through the VIA Institute on Character.
My original coaching methodology integrating expressive movement as guided meditation, VIA character strengths reflection, and coaching-oriented meaning-making — all within the scope of integrative health coaching. EMBSD-IHC™ is designed as both a personal practice and a collective experience — a space where healthcare professionals can creatively express both the joys and stressors of their work while tapping into their own strengths, wisdom, and wellbeing needs.
